Ancient
Egypt:
history and culture
I offer
courses in French on ancient Egypt under the auspices
of the Basel Forum for Egyptology. I propose two series of
courses:
- An
introduction to the history and culture of ancient Egypt,
presented chronologically in four semesters. (See program.)
- A
thematic sequence that addresses Egyptian civilisation
from within, including economic and social life, the sciences,
family, religion, culture, art and the great sites. This
sequence is proposed primarily to participants who have
attended the introductory sequence. Its contents are under
constant development and are presented over the course
of several semesters. (See program.)
