Information on strikes

The Zurich dispatching center gathers and distributes data on train delays due to strikes on the railways in neighboring countries. (See the sample Teletext page in national information.) This can lead to intense activity in the Zurich center even if all is running normally in the Zurich area.

Not surprisingly, the more frequent railway strikes are in a country, the better organized that country is to give timely and correct information about cancellations and delays. The Zurich center thus rates neighboring countries' railways in the following order in terms of information from the railway in case of a strike: Italy is best, then France, then Germany.
